Novelty - not a statistical model

NFL Numerology

This board is for fun. It is notone of this site's real backtested models and is never counted in the site's Results/track-record pages. Each pick runs the Pythagorean numerology cipher (letters repeat 1-9) on each team's full name and its starting QB's name, reduces each to a single digit, adds the game date's own digit-root, and reduces that combined total to one final digit per side. Whichever side's final digit is odd wins; if both sides land on the same parity, the higher digit wins; an exact tie defaults to home. That arithmetic has no real relationship to who wins an NFL game - treat this exactly like a horoscope, not a prediction.

Real backtest (run 2026-10-05)

This exact system, run against 6,952 real NFL regular-season games (1999-2025): 50.2% straight-up (vs. 50.0% for a coin flip and 56.2% for simply always picking the home team) and 49.8% against the real closing spread - indistinguishable from a coin flip.
